My short holiday at home is over and I am now in the Singapore Airlines lounge awaiting my flight to Singapore, Frankfurt and Dubrovnik. It will be 26 hors from take off to landing and still an hour or so till I board.
The 10 days at home have been busy. The Friday after I got back from Bali I was at a quiz night with 5 Mensans on the table. We won, but only by 2 and also won an identify the dogs comp as well. (Pluto, Lassie, etc.) I have a $50 dinner voucher, bottle of wine and a movie ticket as prizes as well as a couple of games of golf I bought in the auction.
Saturday's golf wasn't too bad - a couple over my handicap. The greens had been cored a few weeks earlier and I had far too many putts. Sunday I only played 2 holes and my (new) ride on cart stopped working. The pro came and towed me back and gave me heaps, telling me I should have bought one from him. The people I bought came over during the week and apparently there is a switch under the seat that had been moved, possibly by a stick. This extra on/off switch is as useful as a switch in the boot of your car. Isn't a key on the steering column enough for you to decide whether you want it to go or not?
Monday was a holiday but I decide I should work rather than play golf, which I would normally do. However in the end I spent the whole day in bed and asleep courtesy of some flu or similar that I bought back from Bali. Probably picked it up on the flight out. Ho hum, I will be passing it on to fellow passengers today.
Today was all about getting ready. I had copied most of my stuff on to the laptop over the last 2 days and did a load of washing last night, hanging it out after midnight. I've packed returned library books, done the banking and got my self to the airport with plenty of time to spare. No wait at check in (Business class) and no wait at passport control either. Last time I was checked for explosives and frisked but missed both this time so was straight in the lounge.
Now in Singapore after a very pleasant flight. There were 14 pax in Business Class with 54 seats in the cabin. Service was pretty good. The seats are quite wide but don't recline to perfectly flat. However as I wasn't trying to sleep this wasn't an issue. I watched 2 movies - Rock of Ages and Madagascar 3 and had 2 ssky high cocktails, vodka and contreau. There was a 4 course meal with real knives and forks. The starter (course 2) was Crayfish. There was also a big winelist - again not something I'm interested in.
This is one of the shorter transits - less than 2 hours.
