In between a few of few had a couple of drinks with Millie from Canada, who was having her birthday. The local organiser had sent a small (but addictive) cake and a bottle of wine to her room.
Originally, we were going to have a boat ride to the dinner, but the water was a bit rough so we went all the way on the buses. They took us to a lookout to see the lights but it was difficult to get a good shot without a tripod. We were still too early when we arri8ved, so we did another loop through the narrow one-way streets to kill some time.
The dinner was in Fort Revelin in the old city. They had an interesting idea and had 4 buffet tables, with 4 different cuisines on offer. There was a welcome drink but I didn't like the Grappa, even mixed with OJ.
We had a good time and were entertained by folk dancers singers and a girl in leather playing an electric cello (a la the group Bond).
We left at 11 although we were able to stay to midnight and catch a second bus. The venue became a disco at 11 but we had the VIP area if we wanted. A group of us went back to Millie's room for further drinks and the see out her birthday. In the end I was falling asleep so headed for my own room sometime after 1.
